6-MONTH MILESTONE

Game Production
Make your world playable.

Bring your story, characters and environments together in a polished, programmed, team-built game demo.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPLORE

01

15–20K-word team story & book preparation

02

Programming in practice — C++ scripting inside Unreal Engine

03

3D character modelling, sculpting & rigging in Blender

04

Facial topology & rigging with Faceform Wrap

05

Character clothing & outfitting with MetaTailor

06

PBR texturing & materials in Substance Painter

07

Level design, gameplay & sound

08

Playtesting, optimization & final demo

WHAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DO

  • Co-write and structure a 15,000–20,000-word team narrative, prepared to publishing standard.

  • Write and debug C++ gameplay scripts inside Unreal Engine, building directly on the foundations stage’s programming concepts.

  • Model, sculpt and rig 3D characters in Blender.

  • Use Faceform Wrap for facial wrapping and topology transfer, preparing a consistent mesh for later rigging.

  • Dress and outfit characters with MetaTailor’s clothing and cloth-physics tools.

  • Texture game-ready assets with PBR materials in Substance Painter.

  • Build playable levels in Unreal Engine 5 with layered gameplay, pacing and sound design.

  • Run structured playtests and deliver a polished, mandatory 5–8 minute playable Windows demo as a team.

YOUR COMPLETION MILESTONE

A mandatory 5–8 minute playable Windows demo, a team book manuscript prepared for KDP submission and an individual portfolio.

Assessment combines your project's quality, individual contribution, documented process and presentation.

TOOLS & SOFTWARE AT THIS STAGE

Unreal Engine 5

Our primary engine for RPG production — real-time worlds, Blueprints and C++ programming.

Official software site ↗

Blender

3D modelling, sculpting, rigging and animation for characters, props and environments.

Official software site ↗

Faceform Wrap

Scan wrapping and topology transfer to prepare consistent character meshes for later production steps.

Official software site ↗

MetaTailor

AI-assisted 3D clothing and outfitting for characters, with cloth physics and auto-posing.

Substance Painter

Adobe’s industry-standard PBR texturing and material authoring for game-ready assets.

Software names and logos identify tools in the proposed curriculum. They do not imply certification, sponsorship or an institutional partnership. Licenses, subscriptions and tool availability will be confirmed before enrollment.

THE NEXT THREE MONTHS / IN DETAIL

What progress
looks like.

Indicative teaching sequence. These are the three months leading to this milestone; the full pathway builds cumulatively.

Month 4

Turn a prototype into a production plan

Agree the demo scope, player journey and team responsibilities. Develop the team manuscript alongside the game. Translate storyboard beats into a level blockout and an asset list.

EVIDENCE YOU'LL CREATE

Demo design brief, task board, book draft and a playable greybox.

Month 5

Build and integrate

Create and prepare characters, props and materials. Work through rigging and animation, gameplay implementation, camera composition, lighting and sound. Integrate assets into the shared project regularly.

EVIDENCE YOU'LL CREATE

A complete rough playthrough, asset breakdowns and an updated manuscript.

Month 6

Make it work for a new player

Test the demo without explaining it to the player. Fix unclear goals, progression blockers and performance issues. Edit the manuscript, prepare the book submission package and assemble individual portfolios.

EVIDENCE YOU'LL CREATE

The mandatory 5–8 minute Windows demo, a book manuscript prepared for KDP and a credited portfolio.

Progress is demonstrated, not just attended.

Expect to show working builds, explain your decisions and document your own contribution. A team deliverable does not replace individual competency. Final rubrics, attendance rules and reassessment arrangements will be shared before formal enrollment.
